I'm not sure if they changed something or not. I know the 88 cdi goes under the piece in the front. 91 it seems to go under the seat area because of plug locations. Orange wire does lead up to same area but not sure if there was insulators maybe to prevent that and it is meant to get grounded...

I also found out my motor is original motor to the chassis so should I be double checking that my flywheel is a 91 even though that's what stator they had in? ATV used to run so that's why I presumed it had to be when I pulled old stator out

Also the diagram you sent me seems to be of a newer model. My electrical is a 91 year and I believe that is the 96+ since the cdi only has the two plugs rather then 3-4
