    1987 cdi swapped for 1990-1995

Old post but did you ever get your atv running? Just converted my 88 to a 90-95 electrical and not getting any spark unless my coil was grounded out or just unplugged altogether. Also my stator only had 4 wires coming out as well

    Looking for a 90-95 cdi.

As title suggests I'm looking for someone who has a cheap known good used cdi for sale they would sell me. I bought a off brand one and believe that's my issues. Rather then swapping them from company I'm just going to look for a OEM used one instead. If anyone has one they'd let go for cheap id...

Figuring out which wires should be a ground

So key is new and was ordered and I believe listing stated it work for most early years. I wrote the people I got the cdi for as the service manual points towards a bad cdi although mines new. I never could find anything specifically stating my issues under the specific conditions or anyone...

Figuring out which wires should be a ground

So I just went through the ignition system troubleshooting. According to spec my ignition coil is out of spec and my source coil and pickup coil are out of spec. I'm getting like 400s for my source coil and like 319 for my pickup coil. I will probably end up putting my old one back on for now. I...

Figuring out which wires should be a ground

On the first diagram showing the whole system. What's the difference between the reverse switch and the lever switch?

Figuring out which wires should be a ground

I've swapped a coil off my other running ATV and had same issues. I have an orange "high performance" one on it now but my other is just a generic oem style

Figuring out which wires should be a ground

Yeah my scrambler has like 3 sets of ground spades running to the bolts. Yeah I haven't seen the grounding circuit diagram. That's probably what I need and maybe I can make something work to get it going. I've tried grounding the plug. I haven't tried grounding the coil to the battery and trying...

Figuring out which wires should be a ground

I'm not sure if they changed something or not. I know the 88 cdi goes under the piece in the front. 91 it seems to go under the seat area because of plug locations. Orange wire does lead up to same area but not sure if there was insulators maybe to prevent that and it is meant to get grounded...

Figuring out which wires should be a ground

So I have a sky blue wire coming out of the loom that is for the neutral light. It works as it should. The green/blue in schematic goes to reverse light as well. The flywheel would have to be correct way as the ATV did run awhile back but somehow previous owner used a 88 harness and a 90ish...

Figuring out which wires should be a ground

As title says. I'm having issues with my 88 converted to 91 harness. I've been having issues with no spark. Come to realize that if coil is unhooked I get spark through orange wire but once hooked up it doesn't. Coil is new and I have swapped with a known good coil. I also found out tonight that...

    Electrical.... Help please

Well got to the ATV today. Orange wire unhooked from coil after sitting overnight. I get 55v pulsing through orange wire. I get around .09 steady off. The moment I plug it in. It gets continuity to ground which is normal as my scrambler does it. But the moment I crank, it causes the steady...

    Electrical.... Help please

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. Been busy and honestly needed a break from the thorn in my side. I ended up trying my old harness which didn't work, so I hooked up the 91 harness. Left the coil unplugged and I was getting voltage out of the orange wire. The minute I plug it into the coil it...

    Electrical.... Help please

Oh man that sounds like an actual disaster. I have a coil from my scrambler that I know works. I think I'll pull the orange and make sure I get that reading again and try using the other coil and go from there. I've been tempted on buying a flywheel but I don't think I'd get any voltage on...

    Electrical.... Help please

I forgot to mention that last night I was getting pulse voltages that were enough to spark the plug on the orange wire if I left it unplugged from coil. Then as soon as I plugged the coil in, it would do the continuity to ground and then pretty much caused it to stop after that. I wasn't able to...

    Electrical.... Help please

Then I guess I'll have to dig into the stator and flywheel again. Maybe I'll put the old one back on and make the wires work with an old plug. Like I said the ATV used to run so maybe I just didn't figure out the years properly or something stupid

    Electrical.... Help please

I also found out my motor is original motor to the chassis so should I be double checking that my flywheel is a 91 even though that's what stator they had in? ATV used to run so that's why I presumed it had to be when I pulled old stator out

    Electrical.... Help please

Also the diagram you sent me seems to be of a newer model. My electrical is a 91 year and I believe that is the 96+ since the cdi only has the two plugs rather then 3-4

    Electrical.... Help please

Black is loomed together with solenoid lines and red/white to fuse Green/black splits out with the three prong plug white wires and sky blue. I do know going straight to ground with green/black keeps reverse light on as it looks to run straight to ground side of light. Also I was checking...

    Electrical.... Help please

Been in and out of the forums quite a bit lately. Been trying to convert my 88 warrior to a 91. It was mashed together with random parts so wanted to switch to actually get it running again and it's been issue after issue and at this point, it's the same issue with no clear answer or reason. I...
