Checked the cam timing and it is off about a half a tooth to the left of the timing mark on the valve cover. Moved the cam sprocket one tooth to the right, now it is half a tooth off the timing mark to the right. Still runs the same, any other ideas?

My warrior had a sudden loss of power, checked the timing through the timing plug and it is firing on top dead center instead of 10 degrees before. Does anyone have an idea what would cause the timing to retard? Any help would be appreciated.
