Welcome I would pull the carb, clean it and install a rebuild kit and get a new air filter as well. Oil and filter is a good idea too.

A good trick to keep things from turning (to loosen the nut) is put a penny in the gears. Never use a screwdriver or anything hard, that is a recipe for broken gear teeth.
