Great post. I want to build mine for dunes, some mud, and hard pack trails. I think I will do a banshee rear shock soon and a cut air box for now but move up to a cfm airbox in the future. I will probably build some better skid plates too or buy some soon. Maybe some extanded a arms too. I like the maier plastics geesfor had on one of his warriors.

When the motor needs a rebuild I think I will go with a 366 je kit. Maybe a stage one web or mega cycle cam with a .390 lift and heavy Duty valve springs. Maybe some port and polish work but that will be a while yet as the motor is mint.

No reason to go 366
Not a big enough power gain vs. how much more heat it creates.

Really? So would I be better off at .010 over or .020 over with a je 10.25 compression?

If its stock bore I'd go .20 over. Easy, set, and done. But I'd go with a wiseco 11:1 compression piston, and run 93 octane

If your building a dune machine... I can help there! You want long travel for the smoothest and widest stance possible. A 11:1 motor with a serious torque and midrange cam is what you want. Along with porting and a big carb to let it breathe. Dune bikes are fun! But you will need a serious oil cooler system to keep that beast cool. Sad is a power robbing and heat creating terrain.

So by long travel does that mean extended a arms ?

And how wide do you recommend? My machine is 47" now and the widest I can go is 50" to be legal.

Can I run pump gas with an 11:1 piston?

Long travel uses longer shocks. Factory uses 14" shocks. I have 19" axis shocks on walle.

As wide as your comfortable. Sand is a unpredictable mistress and she will bite your ass every time your not paying attention.

You need 91octain or higher on a 11:1 motor so yes you can run pump on 11-1. I'm running 93 octain on my 11.6:1 motor and haven't had issues yet.

Won't the longer shocks stress the ball joints?
Thanks for all the help
