Easiest way of modding the air box to run a shee shock.

Need:
Dremel (if you have one, or another cutting implement)
Tin (I used 26guage steel available at home depot)
Blade (to clean up the edges of the box once its been cut)
Drill
Pop Rivets
RTV gasket
Template (I'll scan it in here to download after a bit)

Cut the bottom "hump" off the stock airbox. So that it is cut flat with the front of the box bottom.

Make or print (here soon) this template. Back and side tabs get bent and the fronts stay flat.

Cut out your material and bend the tabs

Apply RTV to the edge of the box and to the materials tabs

Attach the material. Hold tight and drill your holes for the pop rivits. Drill one hole and attach the pop rivit one at a time. It keeps everything from shifting.

Fill the edges with RTV. Be generous in the corners as it is what is holding those places to the material. No picture but also drill a drainage hole in the material somewhere.

Let the RTV dry and then install. Your shee shock now has plenty of room and won't hit your airbox.

You can always tape it off and hit it with some black paint to blend it in. I'm lazy, so install it and run! Its not the freshest looking modd but it'll work. Keeps the Filter covered and give the shee shock room to move.

Nice write up Dean

Hahah. The pics do all the talking. Just a simple modd to run another good modd. Just one idear of how to go about it. There are always dozens of ways to do anything. This one can be done in a few hours with really basic tools and stuff available most anywhere.

It'll work. I off'ed this and my shee shock for an 01 660. Interested to feel the difference if any.

If you run or buy an aftermarket aluminum airbox,(which I have been running) no modification is needed.

I can't wait to run that shee shock! Eventually I will get front shee shocks

Wow this post is 8 yrs old lol. Anyways I just found a set of front shee shocks locally for 50 bucks should I pick them up and switch them out with my stock warrior shocks?

Or, you can take a heat gun and soften, then re-form the airbox to accommodate the shock reservoir......
