Cold and hot start issues usually point to a bad starter. The starter motor will run OK when cold but not when it gets hot.

You didn't hook the battery up backwards did you? That'll kill the CDI instantly and you won't have spark.

It seems the 96 has a unique CDI. When you buy a new one matched with a stator, they send you a 95 set up. Nobody makes an after market CDI for a 96. My options are to either buy a matching stator, another CDI that is used (ebay) or a new OEM 96 CDI. So, I sent the new CDI back and...

My only complaint is the hot exhaust on the right leg. The head pipe is wrapped too. Other than that, it's a very nice bike.
