The guy that pressed in a new rod for me also pulled the darn cam chain drive gear off the crankshaft. I am to the point where I need to put this on next but clymers has absolutely no info on how this should be aligned. I am assuming that the mark on the gear needs to be aligned with the key groove in the crank. This would make the mark align with TDC. See the pic below. Does anyone know if this is right?

By the way, clymers sucks. They missed quite a few steps while I was putting my crank halves back together. I really need to pick up a yamaha service manual.

Nevermind, I found it. I was right, the dot has to go in the center of the woodruff key slot. It sure seems like an inaccurate way of setting cam timing though. I would expect a key or something to ensure alignment.
