GOD DAMNIT!! I'M SO PISSED!!!

Went riding yesterday, went down a 7 ft drop a little too hot and couldn't keep the front end up.

Went over the handlebars and **snap**!!

Busted my colar bone clean in half! And I think I may have cracked a rib or two- although ER docs say not.

I was so pissed (still am) . We had just gotten the day started, too!! ****!!

So, I am grounded for a while..... :-/

Hate to hear it 2xtreme. How long did they say it'll be till it heals?

Congrats to warriorspeed for having his own ride now...lol!

No idea yet. I can't get in to the otyhopedic specialist until Wed afternoon!!!!

It was definately a "Hey Ya'll Watch'iss!" moment...

Just let by cajones get a little too big for my britches!!

Yeah at this point in my life when I get to the top of a hill and I don't think I can make it I ghost ride the quad and watch. I don't have any insurance (Recently graduated from college) so I refuse to do stuff that even looks difficult.

Sorry to hear that notso-2xtreme. Hope you get fixed up soon...

Ouch! That sucks man... hope the recovery goes easily though... be sure to let us know what the doc says....

On the other note, I'm with Pelphrey on this - no insurance, new to the sport, and just taking it easy... I'd rather break the quad than myself!!

yeah, yeah. I was venturing outside my comfort zone on that drop.

Like my son says: every time I get on that thing my malls get as big as my avatars!!!

Anyway, just got back from the doc. I'm out for 3 wks minimum. No surgery though- at this point.

I can start doing whatever doesn't hurt. But I am not even going to chance riding before I see him again in 3 wks.

Well at least there's no surgery scheduled at this time... lets try to keep it that way. As for comfort zones, I suppose anything can happen at any time, even well within ones 'comfort zone' it's all a risk, it's just a matter of how much of a risk.

Staying off sounds like a good plan, hopefully that'll be it and then you'll be right back to riding again.

Were you wearing any protective gear besides a helmet? Seems like there's been a few broken collar bones recently and the question of chest protectors always seems to come up at some point. If you weren't wearing one do you think it would have helped much? From the description you gave I am leaning towards it wouldn't have helped. I plan on buying one here soon, for both myself and my son (myself to also encourage my son to wear his - set the example).

I've got one shard of bone that's kinda hanging out neer the verves and artery that runs down my arm. If that moves and pinches the nerve they may reconsider the surgery thing.

Was only wearing a helmet. I don't think a chest protector would have helped with the collar bone- since most breaks are caused by direct contact or falling on an outstretched arm, in my case.

But it definately would have helped with the sore ribs.

Note to self: Buy a damn chest protector!!

Haha, you go right ahead and do that! After spending time in the hospital, paying for medical bills that are outragelously expensive (with or without medical insurance to cover it) and then having to deal with the recovery process which not only limits your ability to ride, but the ability to do much else, depending on the injury of course.

I'd rather break the quad, and be able to do other things without the pain and suffering involved - I've broken enough bones in the past, really don't need anymore. Besides, while I'm out enjoying the outdoors (even without the quad) I can save money to fix it later...

A picture is worth 1000 words!!

Here's the Xray. The two bones that overlap arre supposed to be one bone!!! And the bright white piece in there at a right angle to the others is another shard of bone that could end up pinching the nerve or artery that is in there.

Damn! that looks like it'll do the trick!!

Just went to their site. They've got some good stuff!
