well, i broke down and bought a hydration pack. i know you guys are gonna slam me for the brand, but i had to find one that is big enough to fit one of my oxygen tanks. it is big enough for one of those and there is still enough room to fill it with water or whatever. there is also a storage place on the front for tools and pockets on the sides. we are going riding friday so i'll let you know how it holds up.

i wouldnt have bought ktm, but i had to buy one locally to make sure that my O2 tank would fit. oh well, after a few minutes of riding, it will be covered in dirt and mud.

we are going riding down at turkey bay by kentucky lake. you are more than welcome to join us.

i bought the ktm pack at superbike. it is the atv shop near the corner of morgan and green river. they have a lot of accessories but they are a ktm, polaris and now i think kawi dealer.

I'd love to go. But I will be in Indy watching tom petty friday night ;D

Make sure your skid plates are on tight becuase its going to be one hell of a rocky ride from what Ive heard. I rode 4 good times last week and still wore out from it, but plan on getting 2 good rides in before this weekend.

yeah, i would never go riding down there without skidplates. i'm gonna be riding with my parents so it will be an easy ride. my mom has only ridden once since she had her quad roll over and is scared to death of it.

Dont wanna sound nose, I guess I am though.
Why do ya need oxygen tanks? You ok?

i have primary pulmonary hypertension. normal life expectancy is 3 years without treatment. i hit three years this past november. i have been told numerous times in those 3 years that i dont have long to live. some have said a month, 6 months, a year, etc etc. right now i am doing better than i ever have. i'm on a ton of drugs but they finally seem to be working. one of them costs 61,000 a month and the other, believe it or not, is viagra 3x a day. the viagra increases the blood flow through my heart and lungs. anyways, i've came to terms with the disease. we could all go at anytime, the only difference with me is that someone keeps telling me my days might be numbered. i'm still here so i'm not gonna let it keep me down. riding quads is something that i've wanted to do my entire life. i'm finally able to live out that dream.

the pack looks good. sounds like your condition is pretty serious. wouldnt riding hard irritate this condition? if you dont mind me asking, what med are you taking that costs $61,000 per month? ive dealt with a lot of different meds (i work with mentally handicapped people, so i give lots of different stuff) but havent heard of anything that costs that much. (or did you mean $6,100?) pretty surprising about the viagra thing though. sorry if im being nosy. if so, just let me know. later

the drug is called remodulin. i was under the impression that it was only 20,000 a month. i read an article that said it was 65 bucks per mg. i go through 10 mg/day which is $650/day for 30 days comes up just short of 20k. this month we took a look at the bill and it said 61k. we initially thought that was for 3 months. we've been getting jerked around with medicaid and medicare and while trying to get everything squared away, we found out that the price has increased.

if i ride hard, i have a really hard time breathing for the next week or two. i will be totally out of breath just doing simple tasks like putting on my shoes. in the past i havent worn my oxygen when riding. i'm hoping that wearing it while i ride that it will help with not being so short of breath afterwards.

man that sucks about the medication. i sure hope insurance/medicare/medicaid pays for the bulk of it (if not all!) i went to get my medication yesterday (at good old wally-world) and instead of the normal $10 i usually pay (through insurance) they say its $20. im like, what the ****?! the girl checks it out and apparently our deductable went up on the first of this month and we havent paid it yet! how ******* stupid is that?! i thought thats what you pay the ******* insurance premiums for! just another bullshit way for people to **** you out of money. as you can tell im a little upset about it. the med is for seizures. my neurologist put me on it as a precaution because we think i have had seizures before. im starting to think its just fainting whenever i havent got enough sleep, eat, smell formaldehyde, and see body parts! happened in bio lab while looking at a cow heart! anyway, the medication makes me pretty irritable sometimes so im trying to get off of it. good luck with your oxygen tank thing. does it run to one of those sort of mask things or the nose tubes? if its the mask, id be a little concerned about it clearing the jawline of the helmet (im assuming you wear a full face helmet)

Well I'm glad to see your out and enjoyen yourself!!

Keep the spirits up and keep on riden!

fortunately medicaid and medicare pay for almost all of my meds now. for a while i was having to only pay 3 bucks for each med but here lately there hasnt been any charge. we are still trying to get everything squared away with spend down, which is similar to a monthly deductible. yeah, i wear a full face helmet but i use the nasal canula for the oxygen. my mom is afraid that if i crash that the tank will explode. i guess that is something to consider, but they are pretty damn durable since they hold 2000psi. wouldnt be a good thing if one ruptures though.

dumb question about these types of packs. the part where you drink from has two indentions for you teeth to squeeze it open. there isnt any opening though. are you supposed to cut just a small slit in it so that whatever you have in it doesnt run out?

got a pic of it? i know with my camelbak it said you have to take the squeezy thing you drink from and roll it in your fingers to open up the slit. get a pic and i would probably be able to tell better. ive had 3 camelbaks so im starting to get used to it. btw, how much did you pay for the ktm pack?

i paid 39 bucks for it. what sucks is i was gonna buy it about a month ago when it was on sale for 30, but wasnt crazy about it being ktm

hmmm. well does it come with instructions for how to use the bite valve thing? have you tried just putting it in your mouth, biting down on it (gently), and trying to suck water through it? look at the end of it and see if there is a sort of faint line in the end or see if you can take off the rubber part (without breaking it) and look on the inside of it. there should be some sort of instructions on how to get it to work.

there werent any instructions with it, but i did notice that the rubber end piece is able to be pulled out about a 1/4". i'm guessing that you pull it out to take a drink and then push it back in when finished. i guess i should call the place i got it from and ask them.

well, i kinda screwed it up, but it still works. there was no opening, so i called up superbike. they told me there should be a slit in it and when you bite down on it, it opens up. well, i cut a slit in it, but i cut it in the wrong direction. i bit down on it and sure enough, there was was a slit already in it but just didnt go all the way through. anyway, now i have a hole at the end of it, but the end does go in and out, turning it on and off. shouldnt be too much of a problem. we shall see friday.
