Here are some pics of the CFM Performance aluminum air box i just bought from CFM Performance off ebay. It is built rock solid and does offer better throttle responce than the stock airbox with a K&N. Although its kinda of expensive ( $146.90 including the UNI Filter) i would highly recommend it.

They do make them for other quads, Search Item #: 4562706243 and then check out their other items.
 
CFM's customer service said that you could run it without the lid for increased performance. I have'nt tried it yet though.
 
Yea i beleive that lid is to only keep water off the filter. Looks awesome, i may have to pick one of those up sometime soon.
